About S-PDF
S-PDF is a complete set of 30 online PDF tools — merge, split, compress, convert, edit, sign, OCR and more — built to be fast, private and genuinely free for everyday use.
Why we built it
Students, office workers and freelancers handle PDFs all day: combining an application packet, shrinking a scan to fit an email limit, turning a contract into an editable Word file, signing a form on a phone. Many online tools make these jobs harder than they should be — two-file limits, watermarks, forced sign-ups, or results that quietly lose quality. We wanted one place we'd happily recommend to our own families and colleagues, with every tool working the same simple way: drop a file, choose a few options, download.
How it works
Every tool runs on our own servers — we don't forward your documents to third-party conversion APIs. We combine well-established open-source engines, each used for what it does best:
- qpdf for lossless page operations: merging, splitting, rotating, organising, encryption and repair. Pages are copied, not re-drawn, so text stays sharp and searchable.
- Ghostscript for compression, PDF/A conversion, page previews and image export.
- LibreOffice to turn Word, PowerPoint and Excel files into faithful PDFs.
- Tesseract for text recognition in over 100 languages, so scans become searchable.
- A headless Chromium browser to turn web pages into PDFs, plus Python document libraries for PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Markdown.
Heavy jobs run in the background on a queue, so the page stays responsive and you see real progress while your file is processed.
Our privacy promise
- Your files are deleted automatically 1 hour after your last action — or instantly when you click "Delete my files now".
- No person looks at your documents, and they're never shared, sold or used to train anything.
- Signatures and images you add in the editor are processed like any other upload and deleted on the same schedule.
- You don't need an account. If you create one, we keep only what's needed to run it.
- We store IP addresses only as one-way salted hashes, to enforce fair free-plan limits.

How we keep the lights on
The free plan is supported by clearly labelled ads and by donations — 100% of every donation goes to servers and development. People who process large files or use the tools many times a day can choose Pro, which removes ads and raises the limits. That's the whole business model — we don't make money from your data.
