These machines do not have gears integral with their casing but can have external gears.
Part 3-Integrally Geared Centrifugal Compressors, specifies integrally geared centrifugal compressors in conjunction with API 617, Part 1.
Part 4-Expander-compressors, specifies requirements for expander-compressors, in addition to the general requirements specified in Part 1.
